Human-Wildlife conflict

In order to protect their surroundings or to poach for meat, ivory and skins, where humans and animals live together, an immense conflict is created that intensifies due to poverty. Locale development in food security and better living conditions has a huge positive impact. Not only on the community but also on the wildlife.

Sustainable development

Local sustainable and innovative development in agriculture, horticulture, fruit growing and fish farming is the key to a harmonious existence between humans and wildlife. Together with small-scale farmers, mainly women, we work on food security and a better life for humans and animals.

Go Green

Not only invest in green crops but also in clean energy. Solar power in a country where the sun always shines. Hydro power for irrigation systems to allow the crops to grow. Soil expertise to prevent the land's exhaustion. New innovations to grow organically.

Massive poaching

It is the massive poaching that underlies the rapid disappearance of African wildlife. It is not only the rhinoceros and the elephant that fall prey. The populations of all species disappear quickly. Education is of great importance. The locale community must realize that living animals are worth much more than a poached one.

Anti poaching

In addition to local development, a strong anti-poaching team remains a necessity. Professional rangers need to protect wildlife and are active 24/7. The costs of this team are partly paid from the agricultural income. In this way we work together to create a better living environment for everyone

Now or never

Huge parts of wildlife have disappeared and what is gone will never come back. Many wildlife parks are abandoned due to a lack of funding. We need to protect what is still left! This in an efficient way in which sustainable development and wildlife conservation go hand in hand.

First things first!

Wildlife has a future ... but only if we protect it now.

Human wildlife conflict is real and we know who wins at the end of the day. We as Phundundu Development Trust together with Phundundu Stichting Nederland are ready to support and mitigate the losses beide on both sides but without the financial assistance required our expertise goes to waste.

The projects of Phundundu Development Trust offer the unique opportunity to connect local communities and conservation areas. The income generated from the sustainable agriculture projects offer a viability and growth for the longer term. Generally, development projects and wildlife projects are seen separately from each other. By linking these in a professional way, an income stream is generated from which a thorough wildlife management program can be financed.

Under our supervision, the local community is growing towards total self-sufficiency whereby the wildlife is protected and preserved without being dependent on external donors. We also look at the development of good education and clinics.

Phundundu Development Trust aims to expand its projects in order to secure several wildlife areas in Zimbabwe and to preserve its special wildlife for future generations. This together with the community, which through knowledge sharing, innovation, sustainability and development is capable of taking this task step by step.
